Translation Errors from Base64 Images? Fixed.

Illustration of base64 image translation error being solved

We’ve released an important update to improve the reliability and decrease the costs of Ovesio, our automatic translation platform for e-commerce stores.

What was happening?

Some of our users noticed that when Base64 images (those long image strings embedded directly into the text) were included in product descriptions or other site content, it caused translation errors or completely broke the output.

This issue affected translation accuracy and sometimes even the formatting of the final result.

What’s been fixed?

We’ve resolved the problem by updating how our system handles Base64 content:

  • We’ve fixed the root cause that allowed Base64 image data to interfere with translation.
  • We’ve added a prevention mechanism that now detects and isolates Base64 blocks before translation even begins, keeping your text clean and error-free.

What else to know:

Our translation engine is designed to focus on the text that matters most to your customers, while ignoring technical code elements that don’t need translation.

Ignores code-related elements

We automatically skip over HTML, CSS, JavaScript, as well as tags, classes, and links. That means:

  • Your layout, design, and site functionality stay intact.
  • You won’t accidentally translate class names, script logic, or structural code that could break your site.
  • There’s no risk of misinterpreting or altering code snippets that aren’t meant for human reading.
Focuses on meaningful content

We laser-focus on the actual written content, product names, descriptions, reviews, marketing copy, etc, which are the parts your users see and engage with.

This ensures:

  • Cleaner, more natural translations
  • Faster performance, since we’re not wasting time on unnecessary elements
  • Fewer bugs or formatting issues during and after translation
Why this matters

For e-commerce businesses, accuracy and efficiency are everything. This approach:

  • Protects your storefront’s look and feel
  • Reduces the need for manual cleanup
  • Speeds up your global launch cycles
  • Keeps translations sharp, relevant, and customer-facing

Put simply: we translate what you need, and leave the rest untouched.

Why it matters:

This update means fewer surprises in your translated content, more consistency across languages, and less time spent fixing formatting issues after the fact. It’s a small but powerful change that helps your multilingual storefronts stay sharp and professional.

The fix is already live, no action needed on your end.
